Autoclaves & Sterilizers
. . . Helping You With the Right System at a Great Price!

Comparing Autoclaves? — Choosing the best Sterilizer for your practice or facility just got easier. Have a look at the listings below, where we walk you through the main differences between the various models.

You will probably want to begin by deciding three things:

1.) What size of chamber are you needing?

2.) Do you need something automatic, with drying and possibly an available printer for recording cycle data?

3.) Do you need something special, like a pre-vacuum Bravo or Elara 11 system, or perhaps a single-cassette system like a StatIM?

Have a look through the lists below. This should be a great resource in purchasing your next sterilizer or autoclave.

We would be happy to consult with you over the phone to help you determine the best possible sterilizer for your specific needs and work flow. Call us today at 800-839-0722, or send us an inquiry.

Tuttnauer
Tuttnauer Sterilizers & Autoclaves

Small Manual Sterilizer
7" x 13" Chamber

Tuttnauer 1730 "Valueklave" Manual Sterilizer
Our best small-chambered system, perfect for getting a small number of instruments in and out quickly. It has three trays, each 4.7" x 11.6", and an average cycle time of 9 to 12 minutes.

Tuttnauer 1730

Mid-Size Automatic Autoclaves
9" x 18" & 10" x 19" Chambers

Tuttnauer EZ9 and EZ10 Automatic Autoclaves
The automatic EZ9 and EZ10 are perfect for average-sized medical, dental, and veterinary practices, and equally popular in hospital and university labs. The closed-door drying feature is especially popular, and you have the option of a built-in printer for recording cycle data. With the 9" model you have three trays, with the 10" four trays, and these are sized 6.7" x 16.3". The average cycle time is 20 to 30 minutes (and then a variable drying cycle).

Tuttnauer EZ9

NEW! -- Mid-Size Automatic Autoclaves
9" x 19.8" & 11" x 19.8" Chambers

Tuttnauer EZ9-Plus and EZ11-Plus Automatic Autoclaves
The new EZ-Plus autoclaves are the biggest and most advanced mid-sized options available. New features inclue an easy to close door, a front water loading port, simple controls, and three ways to access your cycle information. Both models still have the HEPA-filted closed-door drying and the 2-year warranty through Tuttnauer. With the 9" model you have three trays, with the 11" five trays, and these are sized 6.7" x 16.3". The average cycle time is 20 to 30 minutes (and then a variable drying cycle).

Tuttnauer EZ9 Automatic Autoclave

Mid-Size Manual Sterilizers
9" x 18" & 10" x 19" Chambers

Tuttnauer 2340M & 2540M Manual Sterilizers
Excellent for average-sized medical, dental, and veterinary offices, without all of the bells and whistles. You will need to manually vent the system to let out the steam, but if you don't need anything programmable, these are the most durable and dependable sterilizers available. With the 9" model you have three trays, with the 10" four trays, and these are sized 6.7" x 16.3". The average cycle time is 20 to 30 minutes.

Tuttnauer 2340M

Mid-Size Flash Sterilizers (Faster 220-volt Versions)
10" x 19" Chambers

Tuttnauer 2540MK Manual "Kwiklave" Sterilizer
and
Tuttnauer EZ10K Automatic "Kwiklave" Autoclave
If speed is important, and rapid turn-over, these models will give you a 9-12 minute average cycle, even with the larger 10" chamber size and four 6.7" x 16.3" trays. The actual electrical hook-up, while 220V, is easy enough for an electrician to set up for you -- and worth the extra step if getting your instruments through quickly is critical to your workflow. Your other option here is whether to go with the manual 2540MK or the automatic EZ10K. Both have the same chamber dimensions, the same trays, the same cycle times. But with the automatic EZ10K, you also have programmability, and more importantly, closed-door drying. So where with the 2540MK, you need to open the door yourself at the end of the cycle and let the last of the steam out and remove the instruments to dry ... with the Tuttnauer EZ10K, you have the very convenient option of allowing the system to run its closed-door HEPA air-filtered drying cycle — so your instruments remain in a closed, sterile chamber, dry, until you are ready to remove them.

Mid-Size Pre-Vac Sterilizers (For Lumened Instruments)
11" x 19" Chambers

Tuttnauer Elara 11 Pre-Vac Autoclave

The Elara 11 has been discontinued as they work on the new model.
If you have instruments with concavities or lumens, or tubing, or anything where it might be difficult for steam to reach normally . . . what you need is a pre-vac system. The Tuttnauer Elara 11 is a 220V system with 11" chamber and full pre-vac capabilities, yet requiring no external plumbing or any special water pumps or ventilation. For premium sterilization and the least possible stress on your instruments, the Elara 11 is your best bet.

Tuttnauer Elara 11 Pre-Vac Autoclave

Large-Size Manual and Automatic Sterilizers (220-volt)
15" x 30" Chambers

Tuttnauer 3870M Manual & 3870EA Automatic Autoclaves
If you need a large-chambered autoclave, this is as large as you can go before stepping into the very expensive hospital/industrial category. With a 15" chamber and two trays (one 11.3" x 26.6", the other 13.8" x 26.6"), capacity for 15 full-sized cassettes, and an average cycle time of about 45 minutes, the Tuttnauer 3870 is the biggest system we carry. It comes with an optional stand, enabling you to free up counterspace if you like. The manual version is a conventional sterilizer, whereas the automatic model is programmable, has closed-door drying, and can come with a built-in printer for recording cycle data. This is one of our best-sellers for large offices or surgery suites, as well as for hospitals and universities.

Tuttnauer 3870

Note: All of our Tuttnauer 3870's come with a free stand, so you can avoid having to place it on a counter if you wish to preserve space.

Ritter
Ritter Sterilizers (by Midmark)

7" x 12" Chamber Size
The Ritter M7 "SpeedClave" Manual Sterilizer
The Ritter M7 has unfortunately been discontinued.
You will instead want to check out the Tuttnauer 1730 (up near the top of this list) if you are needing a simple, fast, small-chambered sterilizer for rapidly processing small batches of instruments. The Tuttnauer is the only remaining 7" small-chambered system on the market. (And for a reason! It's very nice, and very hard to beat!)

Ritter M7 Speedclave

9" x 15" Chamber Size
The Ritter M9 Ultraclave Automatic Autoclave
The Ritter models can come in a "manual" version (indicated by a "D" on the model name), but these tend to be ordered very rarely. Ritter's real claim to fame is in its automatic door, which pops open for you at the end of the cycle, allowing the steam to escape. This can be very handy, especially in a busy office, where you would prefer not to have to keep an eye on when to vent your sterilizer. The M9 is also available with a printer for recording cycle data.

Ritter M9 Ultraclave

11" x 18" Chamber Size
The Ritter M11 Ultraclave Automatic Autoclave
If you need a bit larger chamber and room for four trays, the M11 has you covered. Also featuring the automatic door that pops open at the end of the cycle, and also available with the external printer option, the M11 is extremely popular in medical and dental offices. It's primary competitor would be the Tuttnauer EZ10. The Ritter M11 does have an extra inch on the EZ10 in chamber diameter, although the actual available tray area is not all that much different. It is important to remember that in all of these systems, you do not really have the full chamber width available to you. For one, the chambers are cylindrical, so on the M11, for instance, it is only 11 inches wide at its widest point. For another, all of these sterilizers have chamber racks inside, from which you would suspend the trays (included) or your cassettes. This rack of course takes up some space itself, and allows for the trays and cassettes to line up with some clearance from the side of the chamber.

StatIM Cassette Sterilizers (by SciCan)

Two Sizes . . . Single-Cassette: 11" x 7" x 1.5"
or Single-Cassette: 15" x 7" x 3"
The New StatIM G4 Line
The newest, most exciting sterilizer: the 4th-Generation StatIM G4. Replacing the "Classic" StatIM 2000 and StatIM 4000, the new G4 models take single-cassette sterilization to a whole new level. Now you can have the high-res color touch display and the newest innovation in cycle reporting: which means no more print-outs! Both G4 systems allow you to now simply transmit your cycle data to your computer, where you can store it, print it, back it up, save it in the Cloud, whatever fits your needs best.

StatIM G4 Sterilizers

Single-Cassette: 11" x 7" x 1.5"
The StatIM 2000 "Classic"
The Classic StatIM sterilizers have been discontinued.
For high-performance, fast sterilization, you want a StatIM. No other system on the market is capable of the pre-vaccum cycle (outside of cost-prohibitive industrial-class systems requiring massive build-outs and massive price tags), and because of this, no other system on the market is rated to handle lumened instruments with concavities and tubing ... which other, conventional, gravity sterilizers have such a challenge handling.
Check out the new StatIM G4 models above!

Statim 2000 Sterilizer

Single-Cassette: 15" x 7" x 3"
The StatIM 5000 "Classic"
The Classic StatIM sterilizers have been discontinued.
If you need a little more room in your cassette, the Statim 5000 gives you twice the vertical clearance of the cassette on the 2000 model. The Statim 5000 is also capable of supporting a built-in printer (optional). All of the Statim sterilizers are extremely gentle on your most expensive instruments, extremely fast (so you can get through more cases each day), and boast the added benefit of being able to maintain your instruments dry and sterile in a closed cassette until you are ready to use them.
Check out the new StatIM G4 models above!

Statim 5000 Sterilizer

Single-Cassette: 13.7" x 8.6" x 2.5"
The StatIM 7000 "Classic"
The new StatIM 7000 has a cassette size a bit different from the StatIM 5000 model: it's wider, but not quite as long or as tall. Depending on your instrument trays, however, the 8.6" width might be perfect for what you are needing. Also, the StatIM 7000 boasts a few new features: you don't need distilled water (you can get water direct from the tap!), you can hook a printer up through the optional USB port, and if you want to avoid the waste water bottle you can run the condensation direct to a drain.

Statim 7000 Sterilizer

Chamber: 10" x 13.5" (or 17.5") with four trays.
The SciCan Bravo
Now for something completely different. The new SciCan Bravo series of autoclaves is the first-available countertop pre-/post-vac autoclave with a traditional chamber and tray configuration. It comes in 120V or 220V, with or without a printer, and able to dispose of its waste steam in a condensation bottle or direct to a drain. For hollow or delicate instruments, choose the SciCan Bravo.

SciCan Bravo Autoclave

Pelton and Crane
Pelton & Crane Sterilizers

8.25" x 15" Chamber Size
The Pelton & Crane Delta XL8 Automatic Autoclave
The XL8 fills a curious, if less-than-perfect niche: it is a little larger than the small Ritter M7 or Tuttnauer 1730, while a little smaller than the Ritter M9 and Tuttnauer EZ9 ... but it is automatic, not manual, and therefore carries about the same price as the M9 and EZ9 — only it's an inch smaller. If you really love Pelton & Crane systems, this is an option. Otherwise, we recommend the EZ9.

Pelton XL8

9.8" x 17.5" Chamber Size
The Pelton & Crane Delta XL10 Automatic Autoclave
The XL10 is the Pelton and Crane equivalent to the Tuttnauer EZ10. This Pelton model has been around for many, many years, and was preceded by a manual version no longer available. The XL10 is definitely worth a look, and a very strong system. If there were one reason to elect an EZ10 over it, it would be the warranty. With the XL10 you get one year, on the EZ10 you get two years.

Pelton XL10

15" x 26" Chamber Size
The Pelton & Crane MagnaClave
Pelton & Crane Sterilizers have been discontinued
This was for a long time the only alternative to the Tuttnauer 3870, and long the standard in the industry for large-capacity sterilization this side of hospital/industrial systems from Amsco and Steris.

But in the end, the MagnaClave simply couldn't continue to compete, and they were discontinued in 2010/2011.

The Tuttnauer 3870 is now the only free-standing 15" x 30" system on the market. And at about four grand less than the MagnaClave, and with double the warranty, you can be sure you are in good hands. You can click here to view the Tuttnauer 3870 instead.
