The Tuttnauer 2340M and 2540M Sterilizers
Manual sterilizers are simple to operate and flat out built tough. If you want a sterilizer least likely to ever cause you grief, go with a manual model. You do miss out on a few nice features you would get with an automatic system, but if you do not really need closed-door drying or programmability, you will save money and enjoy a long happy sterilizer life by choosing either the 2340M (with 3 trays) or the 2540M (with 4 trays) or the faster 220-volt 2540MK.
What about drying?
TheTuttnauer 2340M and 2540M are manual sterilizers, meaning that they lack the automated features you would find in, for example, the Tuttnauer EZ9 or EZ10. The manual 2340M and 2540M will sterilize your instruments in about 20 to 30 minutes, but you will need to vent the system and remove the instruments to dry. This is why, as with all manual systems, you are going to want to probably use instrument pouches, which enable you to remove your instruments from the chamber and handle them (in their pouches) without contaminating them.

The difference?
The difference between the 2340M and the 2540M comes down to ... one inch. But what that inch makes possible is being able to fit a fourth tray in the 2540M.
The 2540M can also be upgraded to the 220-volt 2540MK. Why do that? Bumping up the voltage cuts your cycle time in half.
