The XR-36 accommodates the largest range of patient sizes, with an active scanning area of 76" x 25.2" (193 cm x 64 cm)!
The only DXA system with Dynamic Automatic Exposure Control. Norland creates the only DXA system with Dynamic Filtration, which compensates for the wide range in tissue thickness. This filtration varies the X-ray pencil beam intensity during the scan by changing the filters, which are inserted or withdrawn from the beam path within a single pixel acquisition with no loss of data. This ensures each pixel will receive the proper exposure, regardless of the tissue thickness, resulting in the highest accuracy and precision over the broadest range of patient sizes, at minimum radiation.
The exclusive 77-step calibration, which measures 77 combinations of phantom represented soft tissue and bone. Direct measurements eliminate errors associated with beam hardening at thick patient sizes, and provide the foundation for superior scan performances.
Z Scan for Auto-Centering: During the AP spine exam, Norland's Auto-Centering option ensures the vertebral column is both centered and straight in the scan region.
Precise positioning: The XR-36 combines advanced patient positioning aids, scout scan technology, a laser marking system, and intelligent scanning to ensure highly reproducible and efficient exams.
In vivo experiments indicate a significant improvement in precision when using Norland's advanced hip positioning aid. The fixture rotates the mid-thigh to achieve a consistent measurement area in the femoral neck.
